A visit to the Gunma Astronomical Observatory
Choose a day with a clear sky to visit the Gunma Astronomical Observatory. The observatory is open to the public during dattime but the best time to go there is certainly at the end of the day, to observe the stars.
It is recommended that you wear trousers and bring a pull-over,as it is quite chilly in the observation deck.

How to go there from Kamimoku?
If you do not miss the good road, it will take you less than 10 to 15 min. by car from the Jomokogen Station. First take road 253 from the station, which links with Road 17. At the traffic signal, go proceed straight on towards Nakanojo and Takayama, taking Road 36. You must make a right turn when a sign board indicates again Nakanojo, Takayama and Gunma Golf Country Club. Just follow the road indications and stay on Road 35. You wull cross a long tunnel (which is brand new and makes now the access to takayama much easier).
On the way back from the observatory, there is a nice Onsen managed by the Takayama City, which also includes facilities such as a onsen pool, rotemburo (outside spa), boutiques and restaurants. Entrance fee is 500 Yen.
