Pottery

Tsukiyono Yaki, located in Kamimoku along the river, offers the possibility to make your own pottery. The cost for 500 g of clay is 1,250 Yen. You will get free advice to make a teacup, a rice bowl, etc. You may also just decorate a plate or a teacup already made, for a fee between 500 and 1,000 Yen. Your ceramic will still need to be cooked and it will take an average of 5 to 6 weeks. It can be delivered to your home by courier for a 1,000 Yen fee.

Aquarium

The aquarium in Minakami's Mizukikokan offesr a nice variety of fishes living in the region's rivers and lakes. A tunnel under the aquarium is particularly appealing for kids. It is located just behind Sun Mall Minakami. Entrance fee is 300 Yen, 100 yen for children under 12. Open everyday 09:00am- 5:00pm except each 2nd and 4th Tuesdays. End the visit with a detour to the restaurant (close at 4pm) for excellent ramen and other dishes.

Museums at Minakami-no-Mori

A modern building near the Minakami bridge holds three museums: Trick Art Museum, Forest Museum and Litterary Monument Museum. Entrance fee is 900 Yen for the Trick Art Museum (children 600 or 700 yen), and 300 Yen for the other museums (children 200 Yen). Open 09:00am-05:00pm
